Who doesn't love a sunny weekend picnic? And at the beach too! Half term has been and gone with next to no sunshine down in this part of Kent so we decided to make the most of a dry warm day by packing up a beautiful grown ups picnic and head for the beach. It may not have been warm enough for a dip in the water but it was lovely enough to sit, relax and enjoy! Even the dog had blast chasing the birds and being fed tit bits!
Being such a foodie I love the planning and preparing of packing up whatever delicious goodies we have in the house and making it look pretty ready to eat out. I had nearly as much fun putting together this lovely food as i did eating it!
We took a short car drive to Walmer Beach, which as a family, we like to visit often! The view in front was the beautiful sea and the view behind was Walmer Castle! Car parking is right on the beach and totally free! It is also extremely flat and dog friendly.
Here is some of the food we packed up to go! I have to admit i am a total sucker for a pretty food container and these clip lid jars do not disappoint!
Also this hamper! It is a four person white wicker hamper, I received it as a birthday gift a few years ago and just love getting it out!
Jars of fresh olives, carrot sticks, homous, strawberries and yogurt, a platter of meats and cheese and of course it wouldn't be a picnic without the odd sausage roll!
Not forgetting the sweets! Maple and pecan pastries and a sharing pot of strawberries and yogurt.
I took the opportunity whilst we were there with no distractions to take a recipe book, note pad and pencil and do some meal planning for the up coming week of being back to work and school.
Of course some beach day out essentials too:
Blankets are both Ikea
Note pad is Kate Spade
Dog lead Cath Kidston
French market basket
Lo XO
